DECLUTTER YOUR LIFE
Stuff just has that amazing way of expanding to fill every bit of available space in our homes. The key to a tidy home is how you store that stuff. Why not go wild with some of these space-saving ideas?
1. Buy a bed with inbuilt storage
When choosing a bed, opt for one with inbuilt storage. This could be in the headboard, or drawers underneath the bed. Save space in your bedroom by storing things such as handbags, shoes or bed linen within your bed!
2. Add a few floating shelves
Free up floor space by adding a few floating shelves to the walls throughout your home. This is a great way to store extra bits and bobs that would usually take up desk, bench or floor space, and can be a great addition to enhance the design of your home!
3. Organise your drawer space with organisers
Maximise your drawer storage by adding drawer organisers. These are commonly used for cutlery in the kitchen, but they can also be a useful tool for your bedroom and bathroom drawers, to prevent them from getting overfilled.
4. Roll don’t fold
For any soft items you have in shelves or drawers, you can save space by rolling rather than folding them. Rolling up your linen and clothing can allow you to store up to 33% more items in the same space, and it’s also a great way to prevent fold lines and crinkles!
5. Organise your cords
Cords and cables such as phone and laptop chargers can take up more space than you realise. Not to mention a bundle of disorganised cords can leave the room feeling untidy. Arrange your cords using small cord holders or binder clips, and label them with stickers or even plastic bread tags – you’ll never unplug the wrong thing again!
6. Hooks
Hooks on walls and the back of cupboard doors are a great way to make use of empty space. Think purses, jewellery or even coats. By keeping items that you reach for often on hooks behind doors, you can save space and make them easily accessible.
7. Hanging fruit baskets
Speaking of hanging things up, hanging fruit baskets are a great way to store various things. They’re a great way to store things like socks and hats in your wardrobe, as well as what they’re actually designed for; fruit! Storing your fruit in a hanging fruit basket will save you space on your kitchen bench.
