An affinity for post-modern architecture, the desire to future proof and a chance discovery in Thailand were the catalysts behind this striking single storey custom design in Perth.
While abroad in Phuket, the couple were captivated by their villa’s expansive living, dining and kitchen layout, briefing Webb & Brown-Neaves to craft a unique interpretation. The result is a spectacularly functional home designed for modern entertaining with family and friends.
The centrepiece is an expansive open plan living zone under a raised roofline, giving the home considerable gravitas amongst exclusively multi-storey neighbours. The four-metre high ceilings transition seamlessly to the alfresco, with sliding doors extending the interior into a vast entertaining area (our client effortlessly hosted over 90 guests and a band at a surprise 70th party). Meticulous attention to detail features throughout, from the dramatic Italian black porcelain tiles with white grout, to the soaring fireplace, full height American walnut doors and mosaic bathroom tiles sourced from a company started by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1920s. Meanwhile, shadow line cornices and negative detailing of the doorframes pay homage to the couple’s minimalism love affair.
