Webb & Brown–Neaves Celebrates 30 Years

Champagne, comedy and nostalgia set the mood of the evening at WA home builder Webb & Brown-Neaves‘ 30th anniversary celebrations.

About 700 guests – subcontractors, suppliers, staff and their partners, plus industry representatives – attended a reception in the grand ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Perth last week to toast a company which has made a name for itself in building quality homes.

Entertainer Andrew Horabin had the audience in stitches with his address in the guise of Mick the Subcontractor and later a comic Melbourne Cup race call substituting Webb & Brown-Neaves staff names for horses and home construction stages for the race.

The Webb & Brown-Neaves story began in 1978 with founding director Garry Brown-Neaves and partner John Webb. “The first home the company built was a three-bedroom, one-bathroom house in Shelley which sold for $26,000,” Garry Brown-Neaves said in his address.

After John Webb left the company, Mr Brown-Neaves joined forces with one of his former estimators, Dale Alcock, to form the Alcock Brown-Neaves (ABN) Group in 1987. The ABN Group is now one of WA‘s foremost builders.
