ABN Group‘s place as Australia‘s largest residential building group was cemented again this year in the recently published annual Housing Industry Association Top 100 List.

Maintaining the title won in 2006/7, ABN Group was again named as “Australia‘s Largest Detached Homes Builder” for 2007/8. With 3,158 homes commencing in 2007/8 for the Group, housing starts have increased by over 300 homes since 2006/7. This result is testament to the strength and growth of the ABN Group‘s building companies who are striving in a tough marketplace

The HIA report states “The 2007/08 financial year was a difficult one for Australia‘s new home building sector. Sharp rises in interest rates, fuel costs, and food bills combined with imbedded supply side constraints to contribute a lower number of new homes and units started by Australia‘s 100 largest builders. The fifteenth annual HIA Housing 100 survey shows that in 2007/08 the total number of new dwelling starts in Australia increased by 3.1 per cent, but starts by the nation‘s largest 100 builders fell by 5.7 per cent from 56,332 to 53,098.” ( Source: The Housing 100, published by Housing Industry Association, October 2008)
